Leading Australian energy developer Oceanex and international broad energy company Equinor have partnered to pursue a feasibility licence, combining invaluable local expertise and critical global experience to advance the first floating offshore wind farm in Australia, the Novocastrian Offshore Wind Farm.

Equinor

Equinor is proud to bring almost 20 years of experience in floating offshore wind to the region and 50 years of experience successfully developing, owning and operating offshore infrastructure.

Equinor is the global leader in floating offshore wind, as the developer and operator of the Hywind Scotland and Hywind Tampen wind farms, with the latter project being the largest floating offshore wind farm in operation. Equinor operates nearly 50% of the world’s existing floating offshore wind capacity and is one of the world’s largest broad energy companies.

Oceanex Energy

The collective Novocastrian Wind team includes the founders of offshore wind in Australia, Andy Evans and Peter Sgardelis who created Oceanex and cofounded Australia’s first offshore wind farm, Star of the South.

Novocastrian Wind, through the Oceanex shareholders, originated the NSW offshore wind market in early 2020.
